How to Watch DVDs on a Sylvania TV

Sylvania TVs vary in shape and design, some models being HD and others standard definition; however, they all support DVD playback. DVDs (digital video discs) allow you to watch your favorite movies, shows or home videos in high resolutions. Before you can watch DVDs, you need to perform a quick setup to ensure that the signals are coming through your TV.

Things You'll Need

• Component video cables
• RCA audio cables

Instructions

1. Plug your DVD player into the power outlet and turn it on.

2. Locate the component video output jacks on the back of your DVD player. They are color coded (green, blue and red).

3. Connect the video component cable into the component video output jacks on your DVD player, making sure the pins on the cable match the colored ports on your DVD player.

4. Connect the other end of your cable into the color-coded component video input located on the back of your Sylvania TV.

5. Connect one end of the red and white RCA audio cables to the RCA outputs on your DVD player, and then connect the other end of the cable to the RCA audio inputs on the back of your TV. The outputs and inputs are color coded red and white to make these connections easier.

6. Insert a DVD into your DVD player and turn on your TV. Press the "Input" button repeatedly and select "Component 1" or "Component 2" to access your TV's input video channel. You should see your DVD playing.
