Wait to drop the ground coffee into the water until after it begins to boil. Remove the pot from the heat and turn the stove off. Add the ground coffee to the water. Place the strainer on top of the coffee cup so that the center of the strainer is directly above the coffee cup. Place the filter inside the center of the strainer.

Pour the coffee from the pot into the coffee cup very slowly, until the coffee cup is full. The filter will keep all of the ground coffee out of the coffee cup and the strainer will hold the filter in position over the coffee cup without impeding the flow of coffee into the coffee cup.

Tips & Warnings
The strainer is perfect for keeping the filter right where it needs to be while pouring. If just the filter were used, it would become unstable when the ground coffee fell on it. If just the strainer is used, some of the ground coffee will slip through the larger holes of the strainer while pouring.
Be careful handling the pot after the water has boiled. The pot and the water are both very hot and will cause serious injury if they come in contact with the skin.
