How to Remove Stuck Acrylic Paint to Open a Jar
Acrylic paint can stick to different surfaces such as lids and jars, making them difficult to open. Acrylic paint is a plastic based paint that is composed of plastic resin mixed with liquid. As the liquid evaporates, the acrylic congeals. Though acrylics are ideal for artists because they dry quickly and are resistant to the effects of water, cleanup is often a pain for these same reasons.

Run hot water in the sink into a bowl. Hold the lid side of the jar under the hot water for a few minutes. Jiggle the jar lid back and forth. If this does not work, place the jar's lid into a bowl of acetone or paint thinner. Use the knife or screwdriver to get more liquid into the crevices of the lid.
