Prepare a biography to submit with your music. The bio should be one page long and contain information about your artistry, fan base and contact information. If you've sold a single or an album, include sales information in your document.

Prepare a submission CD. Burn only two to three hip-hop tracks to a CD since program directors don't have a lot of time to listen to an entire CD. The chosen songs should reflect the audience and regional taste of the station to increase the likelihood one will be picked. Some radio stations will not accept music formatted as an mp3. Contact the radio station. You can find contact information on the radio station's website. Inquire with the representative, and find out the music or program director's name, contact information and when he is available to listen to new music submissions. Music directors are typically busy, so it's important to respect their schedules and work around them. You may require an appointment, or the representative may provide mailing instructions.
