Learning how to date someone from a different culture can be a rewarding learning experience. A different culture does not always mean a different language, but often differing first languages can be the case. This is especially true if the person you wish to date is also from another country. As seen throughout history, dating someone from a different culture can lead to a successful lifetime partnership, but just like any relationship, there will probably be a few obstacles to overcome.

Learn her language. If you are dating someone from another culture, communication might be difficult if there is a language barrier. Don't expect your partner to learn your language. Take that extra step and try to learn her language.

Study the culture of the person you want to date. Learn about her culture's daily life, history, religion and even dating. Are you trying to date someone who would traditionally be promised to someone else from birth? Of course, you will never really know until you ask your date, but knowing this is a possibility might help you to be more sensitive towards her decisions, concerns and worries.

Invest time in getting to know your date. Ask a lot of questions and make sure and listen to the answers. The way your date was raised may have been very different than how you were raised, and at some point, if the dating relationship continues, the two of you are going to have to mold these differences into a compatible agreement.

Just as it is important for you to understand the culture that your date has come from, you might want to consider how helpful it may be to share your background as well as talk openly about the activities that you enjoy. This allows her to understand where you may be coming from in your different thoughts and approaches to the relationship.
