How to Use Summit Racing Epoxy Primer As a Sealer

Summit Racing Epoxy Primer can serve as a primer for painting or as a sealer if mixed properly. This primer can be sprayed directly onto bare metal, body filler, fiberglass or other types of automotive finishes to create a durable foundation underneath paint or as a sealer. As a sealer, the primer acts as a barrier to keep moisture and air from reaching the surface of the vehicle. Using it as a sealer requires specific steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Pour the desired amount of Summit Racing Epoxy Primer into a measuring cup.

    • 2

Add one part Summit Racing Epoxy Primer Catalyst to the primer. Mix the two liquids using a stir stick.

    • 3

Add reducer, which is a paint thinner designed for adding to automotive paints and primers. Add up to 10 per cent reducer to use the primer as a sealer. The more reducer added, the thinner the mixture will become. Mix the liquids well before putting them into a paint gun for spraying.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't add more than 10 per cent reducer to the primer or it will be too thin and not offer full or even coverage.
