1
Wash your hair thoroughly. You'll want to start with a wet hair base so shampoo and condition your hair with volume enhancing products.
-
2
Dry your hair using a towel or blow dryer. Once your hair feels damp, apply a sculpting spray or mousse to your hair. If you are towel drying your hair, continue to do so until it is completely dry. If you are using a blow dryer to dry your hair then twist random sections of your hair while drying. This gives your hair a little wave to it.

3
Pull your hair into a loose ponytail at the nape of your neck, which is located at the base of your head. Don't pull your hair tightly so it is flat against your head. Secure your hair with an elastic band preferably in the same color as your hair.

4
Using an alligator comb, gently pull sections of your hair away from the crown of your head. Be careful not to pull your hair out of the elastic. You are trying to create an uneven "poof" in your hair so that it looks messy. Use the comb to tease or back-comb, your ponytail to give it a messy appearance.

5
Spray a texturizing spray throughout your hair to hold the look while giving your hair a bed-head look. A flexible hold hairspray will work if a texturizing spray is not available.
