How to Run a Bobcat

A Bobcat loader is an easy-to-operate machine for those wanting to dig and move heavy items. The Bobcat has capabilities for planting trees, mixing concrete and even plowing crops. Bobcats are available for purchase or rent. It's important to understand the primary operating functions of this sort of machinery prior to undertaking a project.       Find out the safety features of this piece of equipment prior to turning it on. Most of the newer models won't start till the safety buckle fastens or the security bar is in position. Become acquainted with the particular controls. You will run the Bobcat with both of your hands as well as both feet. The Bobcats controls include of a pair of mechanical sticks and two individual foot pedals.

      Start the equipment, keeping your hands and feet free. Learn the hand controls. The sticks function independently and collectively to maneuver the Bobcat forward and backward. Whenever you push the Bobcat's loader controls forward, the machine moves forward. The further ahead you drive the sticks, the more rapidly the Bobcat goes. If you press one stick primarily, the Bobcat will change direction sharply.

      Use the foot pedals to control the bucket. Each pedal uses a double-tilt technique and you'll depress the foot area or the back heel area. Push the left front foot area to boost the bucket and the left rear foot area to reduce it. The right pedal works the dumping function of the bucket. Use the right back to boost the bucket teeth, scooping up stone, dust or dirt. To dump the bucket, press the top part of the right pedal.

      Haul a large quantity with the bucket in low position. Bear in mind that the Bobcat is a small piece of equipment and hefty loads could offset its weight. Be careful and raise a load only as high as is necessary to accomplish your task. Travel from one location to another with the bucket within a medium-low position for higher stability, regardless of whether it is empty.
