Trek Tent Setup Instructions

Trek Tent Setup Instructions thumbnail
Dome tents are effective shelters.

Trek makes a cabin tent, dome tent and a self-erecting tent. The self-erecting style does not require any advanced instructions, and the cabin style is simple to erect but bulky. The dome style is the most common, and also the most technical to erect. It requires that all parts be placed in the proper position, or it will not function. The dome tent is the most efficient, as it is capable of handling snow loads and sheds water.

Instructions

    • 1

Select a level camping site that is not in danger from falling rocks or trees. Clear the ground area of sticks and rocks to create a smooth sleeping surface.

    • 2

Remove the tent, poles, stakes and fly from the tent bag. Set a rock on the loose tent materials to prevent them from catching the wind.

    • 3

Set the tent body on the ground. Rotate the tent until the door is facing the south and the body material is spread out. Pound the stakes through the loops located around the base of the tent. Tighten the floor material as you go. This maximizes the use of the fabric.

    • 4

Assemble the tent poles by connecting the individual pieces. Slide the two, long poles through the diagonal sleeves located on the top of the tent. Place the end of each pole in the corresponding corner grommet to erect the tent body. Connect the hooks located on the tent body to the tent poles.

    • 5

Place the fly on top of the tent, and rotate until the door peak is aligned with the door. Connect the straps on the fly corners to the grommets on the base of the tent.

Tips & Warnings

  • The tent can be erected by a single person, but an extra hand will make the process much easier.

  • Anchor the tent well, or it can catch the wind and blow away when not occupied.
