How to Install a Megan Racing Short Shifter

Installing a Megan Racing short shifter on your manual transmission car can help reduce the amount of distance your shifter needs to travel between gears. This will also decrease the amount of time that your engine spends in neutral as you shift from one gear to another. Initially introduced for racing purposes, short throw shifters can commonly be found in street cars, as it helps make driving a manual transmission car much easier.

  • Set of sockets

Instructions

      Remove the boot that sits below your shift knob and then remove any surrounding interior paneling that may be blocking access to the shifter.

      Remove any nuts that secure the shifter mount to the car on its underside. These can be found directly below the shifter underneath the car, in front of the transmission.

      Remove any pins or bolts that may be securing the shifter to the shift linkage. The shifter will have a circular point at the bottom which is what connects it to the shift linkage.

      Pull the factory shifter out from the interior of your car and replace it with the Megan Racing shifter.

      Secure the Megan Racing shifter to the underside of your car and connect it to the shift linkage. Replace the shift boot and any interior paneling to complete the installation.
