How to Paint a Baby Face

How to Paint a Baby Face thumbnail
Face paint is water based and rarely causes any irritation to the skin.

Painting your baby's face can be a great way to dress him up for a costume party or for Halloween without having to spend a lot of money on a one-time-use costume. Painting a baby's face can also be good for carnivals or other kinds of parties. Though you have to be a little extra careful when painting a baby's face, it is essentially the same as painting the face of any other child.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw out your design with the face-paint pencil that comes with most face paint- kits. These pencils are light, but will help you outline your design so that you do not have to worry about creating a design as you go. It will also help your baby get used to the feeling of having something on her face.

    • 2

Start on the inside. When painting a baby's face, it is best to get the inner parts done first. Paint around the mouth and the eyes so that they have the most time to dry. This will also help the child get acclimated to the feeling of having paint on his face.

    • 3

Work as fast as you can. The baby will likely become restless if you continue to keep her in one position for too long. Do not worry about making the painting overly intricate. The more time you take to paint, the more likely it is that your baby will begin to move around, which can result in a messy paint job.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure you use a face paint that is approved for babies. These kinds of paints are often laced with cleansing agents that prevent irritation.

  • Don't go overboard. Applying too much paint can cause irritation no matter how soft the paint is.
