Your auto alarm may be triggered by improper installation, a short-circuit in the wiring, or simple user error. Instructions

  1. Remote Control

    • 1

Press the "Disarm" or "Off" button on the alarm remote control unit.

    • 2

Move closer to the vehicle and try again. If the battery is going out or there is interference with the signal, moving closer may correct the problem.

    • 3

Remove the battery cover from the back of the remote with the flat blade screwdriver, then remove the battery.

    • 4

Replace the battery with a new one. Replace the battery cover, tightening it with the flat blade screwdriver, then attempt to disarm the vehicle alarm system again.

    Remove the Fuse

    • 5

Locate the fuse panel for the vehicle. Fuse panels are usually located below the steering column, just inside of the driver's side door. If you do not know where the fuse panel is located, consult the vehicle owners manual.

    • 6

Open the fuse panel by popping off the plastic fuse panel cover with the flat blade screwdriver.

    • 7

Check the inside of the fuse panel cover for a diagram indicating which fuses correspond to the various electrical systems of the vehicle.

    • 8

Use the fuse panel cover diagram to locate the alarm system fuse.

    • 9

Remove the alarm system fuse from the fuse box with the fuse puller. Do not attempt to remove the fuse with your fingers, as this may cause an electric shock.

    Disconnect the Battery

    • 10

Open the hood of the car to access the vehicle battery.

    • 11

Use the appropriate socket and the ratchet to loosen the bolts on the negative (-) battery terminal connector. Do not touch the ratchet or socket to any metal parts of the vehicle frame or engine while loosening the connector.

    • 12

Grip an insulated portion of the negative battery cable and wiggle it back and forth to loosen the connector.

    • 13

Lift the negative cable connector off of the battery terminal and set the cable down away from the battery to disarm the alarm system.
