How to Adhere Multilayer Die Cuts to a Scrapbook Page
Die-cuts for scrapbooking are shapes cut from products such as foam, vinyl, cardstock and cardboard. These shapes can represent almost anything, including animals, words, flowers or letters. You can purchase pre-made die-cuts in craft stores, though some scrapbookers make their own with the aid of die-cut machines. Die-cuts add color and texture to scrapbook pages and can be layered onto the pages to create a three-dimensional look.

1
Plan your layout, and collect an assortment of die-cut images, textures and colors so that you can create your own design. For example, if you are going use die cuts with a baby's picture, you might choose soft pastel colors with images such as bottles, bears, rocking horses, and diaper-pins scattered about.

Put the largest pieces on the bottom and work up to the smallest. You might start with a die-cut to frame your picture. There are many die cuts made to resemble picture frames with wooden embellishments. First glue down your photo and then glue the frame around your photograph.

Glue on your mid-sized die-cuts. Look for die-cuts that are smaller for your next step. Use a smaller square to fit along the inner edges of your picture frame so that it looks matted. Simply glue this smaller square inside your larger frame.

Add on the smallest pieces. Your small pieces will be the most abundant among your die cuts. You will only use one or two large and mid-sized pieces so that your scrapbook page is not too cluttered. Your small di- cuts create most of the detail and texture to your page. Going back to our example baby picture frame, glue small baby bottles, bears and diaper pins to edges of the frames. You could use die-cut letters to spell out the baby's name over the frame.

Draw on details using markers or paint pens. Draw faces on die-cuts of animals or outline the edges of the die-cuts you used to create more depth. Let the page dry completely before placing it into your scrapbook.

Tips & Warnings
Instead of using only glue to layer on your die-cuts, try using foam squares. These raise the die-cuts from the page to create more depth.
