How to Find Scientific Atlanta 1000 IP Addresses

How to Find Scientific Atlanta 1000 IP Addresses thumbnail
Scientific Atlanta routers are currently sold through Cisco.

Scientific Atlanta sells broadband devices to help users connect to high-speed Internet. The conglomerate was bought by Cisco in 2006, but you can still use the old 1000 series Scientific Atlanta modems fine. Technical support just runs through Cisco now. Finding the IP addresses in use by your Scientific Atlanta 1000 modem requires going to the "default gateway" IP.

Instructions

    • 1

Ensure that your modem is securely connected to the computer and that everything is turned on.

    • 2

Open a Web browser like Internet Explorer.

    • 3

Type in http://192.168.1.1 into the address bar at the top of the screen and hit "Enter." This is the "default gateway" address.

    • 4

Enter "admin" in the fields for both user name and password in the box that pops up. This will take you to your router configuration page. Depending on when you bought the router, it might say "Scientific Atlanta" or "Cisco" at the top.

    • 5

Look under "Network Identity." There you will find the IP address for the computer you are currently using.

    • 6

Click "Network Interfaces" in the left column.

    • 7

Click "IP Address" below it when it appears.

    • 8

Scroll down the list. It will tell you what IP addresses are in use as well as the ones that are free to be used should any new machines connect.
