How to Thread a Handy Stitch Sewing Machine

The Handy Stitch sewing machine is a portable, hand-held sewing machine made by the Singer Sewing Company. It is battery operated, so you can take it places where no electrical outlets are available. The Handy Stitch operates by sewing a straight stitch on garments and home craft projects, and you feed the fabric into the machine by hand. The Handy Stitch sewing machine works with both regular or bobbin spools of thread.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Loosen the bobbin nut from the bobbin shaft and attach a fully wound bobbin. If a regular spool of thread will be used, attach the spool pin to the bobbin shaft and place the spool of thread over it. Tighten down the thread with the bobbin nut. The thread should unwind toward the needle.

    • 2

Pull the end of the thread across the needle arm to the tension control disks at the top of the machine. Pull it between the dial and down to the needle.

    • 3

Thread the eye of the needle, going from the right of the machine to the left. If using a needle threader, push it through the needle going from the back to front, place the end of the thread through the end of the tool and pull back out of the needle. Pull the end of the thread about 5 inches. If the thread is too tight to pull, loosen the tension a little.
