How to Change the Blade on a Craftsman 10-Inch Compound Miter Saw

Disconnect the saw from its outlet.

Set the saw's adjustment table to 90-degrees and lock it into place. Set the motor tilt angle to 90-degrees vertical and lock.

Press and hold the blade-spindle lock button, located on the rear side of the saw's motor.

Remove the blade-spindle center bolt. Use a Craftsman blade wrench or an adjustable wrench to turn the spindle bolt counterclockwise to loosen and remove the bolt and retainer washer.

Rotate the clear plastic blade guard to retract it. Remove the saw blade from the center spindle.

Continue to hold the blade guard retracted and position the new or resharpened 10-inch saw blade over the center spindle. Point the saw teeth toward the rear of the saw. If the blade is stamped with a directional arrow, make certain it matches the directional arrow printed on the blade guard.

Place the retainer washer on the center spindle and thread the spindle center bolt clockwise into the spindle until hand-tight.

Press and hold the blade-spindle lock button. Tighten the blade-spindle center bolt using the Craftsman blade wrench or an adjustable wrench.

Release the blade guard and plug the saw back into its outlet.
