Homemade Button Pins
Buttons make for a convenient handout at events and political fundraisers. However, putting in an order for a batch can be costly and result in a generic look. You can make your own button pins, however, using basic craft supplies. If you have the extra time, the commitment is well worth it to make truly custom pins to get your message out.

1
Trim down the ridge of the bottle cap with sharp scissors so it's almost flat like a beer bottle cap. Be careful and take your time. Remove the plastic lining on the inside of the bottle cap. Skip this step if using a beer bottle cap.

2
Draw out your button design with your markers on your paper. Make sure the design fits or is larger than the size of your bottle cap. Use the bottle cap as a template and cut the design out.

3
Place a small drop of white craft glue on the inset side of the bottle cap. Smear it around the surface. Place the cut out design into the inset with the glue and press into place. Allow the glue to dry holding the paper in place.
-
4
Paint the paper design with a thin coating of clear nail polish. This will give the design a shine and protect it from everyday wear. Allow the nail polish to dry for an hour or so till it's no longer sticky to the touch.
-
5
Flip the bottle cap over so the design is facing down and the original top of the cap is facing you. Glue your safety pin to the bottle cap with your hot glue gun. The glue will dry really quick. Pin your homemade pin to your shirt or backpack and express yourself.
