How to Repair an Ice Cream Generator
Most people enjoy eating ice cream and some have purchased an ice cream makers to enjoy making ice cream at home. If your ice cream maker stops working because of a problem with the generator, don't rush out and buy a new one machine. Detach the motor unit. If the motor unit is on one side, remove the ice bucket and other components so you can easily approach the motor and gear assembly. Use a screwdriver to unhook the motor unit from the ice cream maker.

Move and turn the motor unit upside down and take off the cover and baseplate to access the gear and motors.

Remove the gears and examine them for wear.

Clean anything that is attached or causing the gears and motor to work incorrectly. This could be old ingredients or mixtures from previous times you made ice cream that may have gotten stuck in the gears or motor, causing it to jam.

Remove the motor and test it with a multimeter. Use the multimeter by turning it on and connecting the probes. Place the probes on each side of the ice cream maker to measure the voltage. The multimeter will provide symbols to let you know the quality of voltage.

Replace any worn, old, or broken parts of the ice cream machine if necessary. These parts can include the gears, the paddle or the motor.

Reassemble the parts and put your ice cream machine back together.
