How to Sew Astronaut Clothes for Stuffed Animals
Children who love to dress up enjoy it even more when favorite stuffed animals can be included. Unfortunately, stuffed animal clothing is expensive and most stores carry a limited selection. Be sure your little space ranger can bring a furry friend along on every mission by sewing a custom astronaut costume. If you have enough fabric, make a matching costume for the child, using the same technique.

1
Measure twice to be sure you have the correctly sized pattern. Measure the stuffed animal for which you are sewing the astronaut costume and buy a doll clothing pattern that is sized appropriately. Use the sewing pattern to sew a simple garment, such as a basic shirt and pants or a one-piece jumper, out of sturdy white fabric such as sweatshirt fleece or thick cotton knit fabric.

Sew a NASA patch on the front of the garment, just below the left shoulder, then sew an American flag patch on the upper portion of the left sleeve and another space related patch on the upper right sleeve. You can add additional patches as desired. These are available at online stores such as The Space Store or The Space Shop.

Choose a plastic snow globe that fits over the stuffed animal's head. Cover the edges with a strip of black duct tape and place it on the stuffed animal as a helmet.

Black doll-sized boots can complete this outfit, but are not necessary. Check your local craft store to see if they are available to fit your stuffed animal.
