How to Remove the Power Seats From a Chrysler Town & Country

by Gregory Crews

Removing the power seats in a Chrysler Town & Country van is not very difficult since the seats are bolted to the floorboard. This is a job you can do yourself if you have basic automotive repair knowledge and a few common shop tools. Leaving the door open will make the task easier because it will provide more room to work. The seats in the van are bulky and you may need assistance to lift them up and out of the van.

Step 1

Open the driver side door to allow room to pull the seat out of the van. Locate the four mounting bolts holding the seat to the floorboard. There are two in the front and two in the back. Slide the seat all the way back for room to remove the front two bolts.

Step 2

Unfasten the front two bolts using a socket wrench and put aside. Slide the seat all the way forward to gain access to the back bolts.

Step 3

Unfasten the back bolts with a socket wrench. Tilt the entire seat forward against the steering wheel.

Step 4

Unplug the wiring harness at the bottom of the seat. Squeeze the sides of the connectors to unlock the harness. Separate the wiring harness to disable the power seat.

Step 5

Lift the seat out of the door. Some assistance may be required because the seat is bulky. Place the seat in a dry covered area.
