How to Make a Duffman Costume

Be a superhero this Halloween and dress up as Duffman!

Duffman, the mascot and spokesperson of the Duff Beer Company, is a beloved character on the animated TV show The Simpsons. His costume consists of a red cape, blue muscle shirt with the Duff Beer logo, blue tights with red briefs, white boots, dark sunglasses, a red logo baseball cap and a belt made of Duff Beer cans. Duffman generally refers to himself in the third person and ends most comments with "Oh, yeah!" combined with a pelvic thrust. The most time intensive part of making this costume is the belt, but the entire outfit will only take a few hours to assemble.

Things You'll Need

• Computer
• Color printer
• Paper
• Empty aluminium cans, 8
• Cloth belt
• Hot glue
• Blue track pants or sweat pants
• Blue muscle shirt (to match the pants)
• Red briefs, or shorts
• Red baseball cap
• Black sunglasses
• White boots
• White gloves
• Red fabric, 3 to 4 yards
• Tape

Instructions

1. Create can labels with the Duff logo using a computer's art program. The main color of the label is red, with the Duff Beer logo centered on it. There are numerous pictures of the Duff logo on the Internet. Two to three can labels will fit on a standard sheet of paper. Make enough labels for each can on the belt. While at the computer, make a Duff logo for the shirt and hat.

2. Tape the labels to the cans. With the belt lying flat on a work surface, place the cans on the belt. When you wear the belt, it will be buckled at the back, so arrange the cans on what is traditionally the back part of the belt. Once the cans are placed to your liking, use the hot glue and glue them on. Do not be stingy with the glue, use plenty. Glue the logos onto the shirt and hat.

3. Assemble the costume. Put on the pants and shirt, followed by the red briefs or shorts. If small enough shorts cannot be found, tuck excess leg material under to make the shorts look like briefs. Tie on the cape by two of the corners of the material. Put on the white boots. If white boots are hard to come by, any other color will do, just spray paint them white. Buckle the belt on, slip on the sunglasses, put the hat on and slide on the gloves.

4. Stand in front of the mirror and practice saying "Oh, yeah!" at the same time as performing a forward hip thrust. Have fun being Duffman!
