Instructions

    • 1

Wipe off any dirt from the sandals, and clean the bottoms if you're going to paint those as well.

    • 2

Rub sandpaper over the Dr. Scholl's logo to remove it. Removing the logo makes the shoes more fashion forward.

    • 3

Paint the sandals a base color with acrylic paint. Acrylic will work on both plastic and wood --- the two most common materials for Dr. Scholl's sandals. Cover any metal buckles with painter's tape to keep them clean. For two-tone sandals, paint the upper portion one color and the footbed another color.

    • 4

Wait for the base coat to dry, then paint stripes or other designs if desired. For stripes, apply strips of painter's tape in even intervals about an inch apart, then paint between the strips. Wait for the paint to dry before removing the tape. Paint swirls or flowers freehand with a small paintbrush.

    • 5

Coat the entire painted portion of the sandal with several coats of a glossy varnish. This protects the paint from wear and gives it a more polished finish.
