How to Make a Scrapbook for a Fifth Grade Girl's Graduation thumbnail
Preserve a fifth grade girl graduate's past in the form of a scrapbook.

Graduating fifth grade is a milestone in a child's life, as it marks the end of elementary school and the start of middle school. Give the young girl graduate a sentimental item like a scrapbook that preserves precious memories of her early years at school forever. The memento will revive her past experiences every time she flips through its pages. Creating a scrapbook is an enjoyable experience because it lets you go back in time as you come across items from when the graduate was younger.

Instructions

    • 1

Rummage through old photo albums from when the graduate was younger, looking for school photos and photos from school trips and special occasions that represent her elementary school years. Also include a few photos of her family.

    • 2

Look through boxes of school projects for art or craft work the graduate made during her early years in school. Keep items on paper aside to use in the scrapbook and take a Polaroid of each large project you can't include due to size. Also look for report cards and merit or distinction certificates she received in her previous years or other awards such as medals or trophies. Take a Polaroid of trophies and medals.

    • 3

Spread sheets of scented lavender or pink paper on a table in front of you. Draw a 3-inch-wide margin on the left side of each with a ruler to make allowances for the binding.

    • 4

Spread the photos in front of you in chronological order. Separate ones from the same year and begin pasting them to a page. Depending on the size, use two to three standard-size photos on each page. Also cut out pictures of the graduate with her friends, following the contours of their silhouettes before pasting them to paper. Use these picture cutouts to fill empty gaps on pages between large photos.

    • 5

Paste artwork on separate pages to create a different section in the scrapbook. Glue the Polaroid pictures you took of large projects, along with merit certificates. Pile sheets with similar-pasted items separately on the table. Place two to four empty sheets under each stack.

    • 6

Draw a horizontal line under, above or along the side of each photo and write a caption with glitter pens. Also write a personal note to the graduate, perhaps on the first page, to make her aware of your never-ending support and pride in her accomplishments. Keep several sheets of empty pages under the sheet for her to write her own memories of her previous school years.

    • 7

Embellish each page with ribbons, artificial stones, colored feathers, stickers and other items that enhance the scrapbook's appeal. Also cut out school items such as desks and chairs, lunch boxes, and school buses from magazines and paste them strategically throughout.

    • 8

Paste a picture of the child at school in the middle of a page to serve as the scrapbook's cover. Write her name across the top and the year she graduates fifth grade. Paste decorative items that reflect her well to the page.

    • 9

Stack the sheets of paper in your desired order, along with the cover page. Align the edges before punching two holes through the left margin. Extend pink ribbon through both the holes and knot in a decorative bow.
