How to Troubleshoot Graphics in "Silent Hill 2" for PC

"Silent Hill 2" is the first sequel in the long-running "Silent Hill" franchise and the first game in the series to find its way to the PC. Unlike its console cousins, the PC version of "Silent Hill 2" requires your computer to meet certain requirements. While those requirements could have been too high for some computers back in 2001, nowadays the requirements could actually be too low to run on newer operating systems. If your game runs but has graphical issues, there are a few avenues you can take to remedy these problems.

Instructions

    • 1

Adjust the graphical settings in the "Silent Hill 2" options menu, which is accessible via the main menu. Turning on or turning off various settings, as well as lowering or even raising certain graphical sliders, can have a great effect on the way the game runs.

Run the game in "Windows XP" compatibility mode. This is done by right-clicking the "Silent Hill 2" desktop icon, clicking "Properties" to bring up the Properties menu, selecting the "Compatibility" tab and selecting the check box option "Run this program in compatibility mode for." If necessary, open the drop-down menu and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)." Once done, click "Apply" and then "OK."

Reinstall the game if all else fails. This will fix any potential issues that arose during the initial installation of the game that could be affecting the graphical efficiency during play.
