How to Register Government SmartPay Cards With Citibank
The GSA SmartPay program provides charge cards to U.S. government agencies and departments, negotiated with major financial institutions through specially developed master contracts. Cards are issued to military personnel for their use in conducting government business. Since June 2007, Citibank, U.S. Bank and JP Morgan Chase were awarded contracts that allow agencies to acquire various kinds of services and charge card products. Agency personnel may use the cards to purchase general supplies or services, handle travel expenses and purchase fuel and supplies.

Register the SmartPay card with Citibank by calling toll-free in the U.S. 888-514-2922. Call 706-494-5028 collect if you are outside of the U.S. Be prepared to provide your account number, your verification ID and the last four digits of your Social Security number. Any restricted or other SmartPay cardholder may also call to register and verify their cards. Only cards which have been accepted for agencies and organizations that have issued a task order under the GSA SmartPay 2 master contracts will be registered and activated. You may only register a SmartPay card that has been issued in your name, to maintain the security of cardholder account information.

Visit Citibank's specific website for cardholders to register their SmartPay cards and verify receipt (see Resources). Enter your account number and verification ID to access the registration program. Restricted and all other SmartPay cardholders may also access the website to register their cards. Any cardholder who experiences difficulty may contact contact their assigned armored personnel carrier (APC) as per standard procedure, to assist with having the SmartPay card activated.
