How to Put Ice Cream in an Ultra Low Temperature Freezer
Ice cream is among the most popular frozen treats in the world, and its dairy base makes it among the most difficult to store properly --- any amount of thawing and refreezing can result in taste imperfections and biological contamination. One particularly effective way to avoid refreezing problems is through use of an ultra low temperature refrigerator, which stores the ice cream at a temperature between -40 and -86 degrees Fahrenheit. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Place your ice cream in a container that is suitable for your freezer's storage temperature. Most plastic storage devices are suitable for ultra low temperature storage. If you're not sure what containers to use, refer to your freezer's user's manual for information about recommended storage devices and how to purchase them. Never place a glass container in an ultra low temperature freezer, as doing so will cause the glass to break.
-
2
Put on a pair of dry gloves. If you don't wear gloves, you risk frostbite in the case that you touch the inside of the freezer with your bare hands.
-
-
3
Turn off the freezer's liquid carbon dioxide subsidiary freezing system, if your freezer has such as system. Refer to your freezer's user's manual for specific instructions.
-
4
Place two to three containers of ice cream in the freezer. If the freezer is opened frequently, you should place the ice cream in the back of the freezer to avoid exposing it to temperature fluctuations.
-
5
Close the freezer door and turn the liquid carbon dioxide subsidiary freezing system back on.
-
6
Wait until the freezer's compartment has cooled to at least -4 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the compartment has reached that temperature, you can turn off the backup system, open the door and place two to three more containers of ice cream in the freezer. Repeat the process until all containers are stored.
