How to Replace the Extra Handset for a VTech Cordless Phone

If your system encounters problems with one of the current handsets, or if you want to add a new phone, VTech offers many options.

Turn your telephone unit over and find the model number. You can only add a unit to the telephone system that is the same model number.

Enter the model number for your phone in a Web search engine and check several online retailers for the best option. Purchase directly from VTech by visiting the website (see Resources), or you can check with local retailers to see if the model is offered.

Charge the handset before registering it to the system. Place the new handset on the unit base. The handset will say "Press find HS 4 sec on Base." If this is not showing on the display, remove the handset, wait 10 seconds and place on the unit again.

Press "Find handset" for four seconds and release the button. The handset should now say "Handset X Registered" and the unit will beep to confirm the registration.
