How to Use a Vivitar ViviCam 4100

The Vivitar ViviCam 4100 digital camera captures high-resolution images and videos and stores them to a memory card for later use. Image quality ranges up to 4 megapixels in JPG (Joint Photographic Group) or MPG (Moving Picture Group) format. Once you obtain your camera, you might have questions about its basic operation. Before shooting special events, experiment with your camera, so that you can learn it inside and out and shoot confidently.

Instructions

    • 1

Slide the battery cover lock (located above the battery cover on the right side of the camera, if you're looking at the camera from behind) and open it as a first step to preparing your Vivitar. Install two AA batteries (Alkaline or Ni-MH) into the chamber, aligning the polarity with the indicators printed on the inside of the door. Insert an SD memory card into its chamber, which is just before the battery chamber. Close the battery chamber cover.

    • 2

Turn the power on by sliding the lens cover (located on the front of the camera) over to the left. You will hear a sound as the camera starts up, and you will be prompted to set the date and time, if the camera is being turned on for the first time. Follow the onscreen prompts to set the date and time and choose your preferred language.

    • 3

Hold the camera steady in both hands, point the lens at your subject and center your subject within the frame brackets on the monitor. Push the "Mode" button (located on the back of the camera to the right of the display) continuously until you reach "A (Auto)" mode.

    • 4

Push the "Shutter" button (located on top of the camera to the right) down halfway and allow your camera to automatically adjust all settings to properly expose your picture. When you're satisfied with your setup, fully depress the "Shutter" button to capture the image. The image will be saved to your memory card or your camera's internal memory.

    • 5

Push the "Mode" button repeatedly until you reach the movie camera icon to shoot a video. Simply push the "Shutter" button to begin recording after you've framed your subject within the monitor. Stop recording by pushing the "Shutter" button a second time.

    • 6

Push the "Mode" button to reach the "Playback" icon to review pictures and movies you've shot. The last captured image or movie will appear on the monitor. Push the left and right navigation keys (located on the back of the camera to the right) to navigate backward or forward respectively through your files.
