Matches make are a cheap replacement for official "Stix."

Stix "The Tricky Sticky Card Game" is a board game manufactured by Piatnik, an Austrian games company based in Vienna. During the game players pick up cards showing one of several patterns; they must then arrange the five "Stix" to replicate the pattern or take a forfeit. If you have lost your official "Stix" that are included with the game, you can replace them with common household objects. Allow roughly five minutes for this task.

Instructions

    • 1

Use standard length matches to play Stix. Cook's matches will suffice but are a little longer than genuine "Stix." If you like you can cut off and discard the striking end of the match and paint the remaining wooden sticks black. This will make the matches look more like genuine "Stix."

    • 2

Use toothpicks from your kitchen. Though slightly longer and thinner than regular "Stix" you can always trim off the pointed ends and paint them black if you have the time and inclination before a game.

    • 3

Trim some cotton swabs from your bathroom, removing the cotton heads. The remaining plastic shaft can be used in the game and, like the matches and toothpicks, can be painted black.
