How to Make Tile Pendants
Turn wood or glass tiles into attractive pendants to wear or give as gifts. You can even use a game tile as the basis for your pendant. Decorate the front of the pendant with your favorite artwork, stickers or hand-drawn designs. Epoxy resin, a type of plastic, seals the artwork to the tile and also gives it the appearance of being enclosed in glass. The resin comes in two parts, a resin and a hardener. It begins as a liquid then cures to a hard, waterproof finish.

1
Lay the tile on top of the artwork you plan to use. Trace around the tile, then cut out the art. Trim the edges so the artwork fits perfectly on the tile.
-
2
Coat the front of the tile with decoupage glue. Lay the art on top of the tile and smooth out any air bubbles. Allow the decoupage to dry.
-
-
3
Coat the front of the decorated surface of the tile with the glue, sealing it completely. Allow the glue to dry, then apply a second coat of glue and let it dry completely.
-
4
Combine equal parts resin and hardener together in a disposable cup. Stir for two minutes with a wooden craft stick.
-
5
Smooth the mixed resin onto the surface of the pendant. Push it out to the corners with the craft stick until the front of the pendant is completely coated.
-
6
Set the pendant in a warm, dry room to cure, or harden. The resin sets up within 24 to 28 hours depending on humidity.
-
7
Glue a necklace bail to the back of the pendant, using jewelry glue. Thread a cord or chain through the bail.

Tips & Warnings
Substitute other clear sealant glazes for the resin. Keep in mind that most glazing compounds are not as durable or waterproof as resin.
Epoxy resin produces fumes, so work in a well-ventilated room. Wear gloves and cover your work surface to protect it from resin spills.
