How to Move the Cursor on a BlackBerry Without a Trackball

How to Move the Cursor on a BlackBerry Without a Trackball thumbnail
You can make selections on the smartphone without a trackball.

Most BlackBerry cell phones have a built-in cursor ball in the middle of the device. This allows you to move around the screen and select content, just as you do with a computer. If the trackball is damaged and not functioning properly, you do have a second option. This method takes a little longer to select objects, as it does not scroll diagonally, but cursor movement and selection is still capable.

Instructions

    • 1

Power on the BlackBerry and wait for the operating system to finish loading.

    • 2

Push the directional arrow key pad, located around the trackball, towards the option you want to select. This movies the mouse towards the desired selection, one icon at a time.

    • 3

Highlight the icon you want to select, then press "Enter" (the green "Dial" button) to do so.
