How to Be a Gemologist
A gemologist works with gemstones, both precious and semi-precious, in various applications such as jewelry and appraisal. Gemologists are trained through programs such as those offered by the Gemological Institute of America. Gemology is not a common degree offering at colleges, so these specialized programs represent the main formal education option for gemology.
