How to Use a Collapsible Reflector in Natural Light
Taking pictures in natural light is ideal in photography. At the same time, it sometimes offers challenges. Shadows from surrounding buildings, plants, or trees create lighting challenges, as does a partly cloudy day. Collapsible reflectors are handy because they are not bulky to carry. They work to properly light the subject without having to use a flash. Collapsible reflectors require an assistant to hold them in the right position while you take the pictures.

2
Look at the subject through the camera lens so you can check the lighting.

Ask your assistant to hold the collapsible reflector in a place that lights the subject in the most flattering way. When photographing outdoors, the most common shadowed area tends to be your subject's face, such as the chin and under the nose. So aim the reflector at the subject's face from below to reflect the light up. Place the reflector as close to your subject as possible without getting the reflector in the picture.
