How to Host a Winter Housewarming Party
One out of five American families moves to a new home every year, according to Ohio State University. It can be exciting to move to a new place because there will be new people to meet and different places to explore. However, moving to a new place can cause anxiety because people may worry about whether they will get along with the neighbors. Hosting a housewarming party is a great way to meet everyone in your new community. Does this Spark an idea?

Knock on a couple of your neighbors' doors. Introduce yourself by saying that you are new to the neighborhood and that you would like to host a housewarming party to meet everyone in the neighborhood. Invite them to your housewarming party and ask them to invite their friends. It is a nice gesture for the new resident to bring over a casserole or pie to her neighbors. Also, invite the parents of your child's classmates.

Clean and decorate your house. Make sure that the floors are spotless and that there is no clutter. A great way to dress up your house is to put up Christmas lights inside. Go with disposable party supplies to make the clean-up easier.

Prepare the food at least four to five hours before the party. Including foods like grilled ham, roasted turkey and mashed potatoes will surely make your guests happy. If money is tight, consider going potluck on the food or drinks. Ask guests to bring appetizers or desserts. Keep items like wine and beer in the refrigerator instead of a wine bucket or cooler that would need to be refilled with ice during the party.

Plan some fun activities for the party. For example, have each guest tell three facts about themselves in front of everyone. Two of the facts should be true and one should be a lie. Everyone will try to guess which fact is the lie.

Greet all of your guests when they arrive. Tell them about yourself and try do find some things you have in common.

Thank your guests for coming to your housewarming party as they leave. Send thank-you notes for any gifts you receive.
