Drinking straws do not only have to be used for drinking. Drinking straws make good supplies for craft projects. A drinking straw makes an ideal stem for flowers. Using either tissue paper or an egg carton with some drinking straws can let you make a bouquet.

Instructions

  1. Tulip From an Egg Carton

    • 1

Cut out an individual cup from an egg carton with scissors.

    • 2

Form four petals by trimming the sides of the cup with your scissors. Petal ends can be round or pointed.

    • 3

Color the petals with a marker.

    • 4

Make a slit, using your scissors, at the bottom on the flower.

    • 5

Insert the straw into the flower as a stem.

    Daffodil From an Egg Carton

    • 6

Cut out two individual cups from an egg carton using scissors.

    • 7

Form four petals in cup as you would for a tulip using scissors.

    • 8

Cut the second cup, with your scissors, about 1 inch tall with all sides even.

    • 9

Glue the shorter cup into the first cup using only a dab of your white, non-toxic glue. Allow to dry.

    • 10

Make a slit with your scissors at the bottom of the flower.

    • 11

Insert a straw at the bottom of the flower.

    Daffodils From Tissue Paper

    • 12

Cut yellow tissue paper with scissors into a 5-by-5-inch square.

    • 13

Fold the paper in half and cut along the fold with scissors.

    • 14

Using a thick marker, roll one rectangle around it tightly. Leave about half of the paper hanging over the marker.

    • 15

Twist the overhanging paper like a candy wrapper.

    • 16

Fold the other rectangle in half and in half again.

    • 17

Cut a petal shape into the folded rectangle using your scissors.

    • 18

Unfold the rectangle; the petals should still be intact.

    • 19

Roll the petals around the marker as you did with the first rectangle and twist the bottom-overhanging portion.

    • 20

Put a dab of white non-toxic glue on the end of a straw and insert the twisted end into the straw. Allow to dry.

    • 21

Remove the marker and bend down the petals.
