How to Attach Flowers & Rhinestones to a Tutu
From the short, pouf-type style to the long, flowing romantic version, an elegant and colorful tutu can make any little girl feel like a princess. No fairy, ballerina or bride costume is complete without one, and no spring or winter fairy is fully dressed without brightly hued flower petals or glittery rhinestones scattered through the folds of her skirt. Rhinestones can be attached to tulle by either gluing or sewing -- which method is best depends on the type of rhinestone -- while flowers should always be sewn on securely.
Instructions
-
Glue
-
1
Spread the tutu out on your work surface. For a slightly neater project, place it over a piece of wax paper.
-
2
Cover one end of a cotton swab with glue.
-
-
3
Daub a spot of glue where you'd like to place the rhinestone.
-
4
Press the rhinestone in place with tweezers. Allow to dry completely before moving the tutu.
Sewing
-
5
Spread the tutu out flat on your work surface. Lay out the flowers or rhinestones in your desired design and density.
-
6
Secure the rhinestone to the tulle with several short stitches through each hole.
-
7
Stitch flowers on by pushing the needle through the base of the flower itself.
