Find out the type of keyboard you want to learn. This depends on the layout of your keyboard. If you find "QWERTY" is the sequence of letters on the top left of your keyboard, followed by "ASDF" in the next line and "ZXCV" in the third line, you have a "QWERTY" keyboard. On "DVORAK" keyboards, "PYFG" is the sequence of letters that appears on the first line, followed by "AOEU" in the next line and "QJKX" in the third line. You can find typing tutors online for both of these types of keyboards.

Go to an typing website, such as TypingWeb. This site offers keyboarding lessons, tests and free self-printed skill certifications. Click "Start Typing" on the website to start your free lesson. The resultant screen gives you a list of courses available. Select a course depending on your typing expertise, from novice to a more advanced level. Complete the registration information if you want to save your typing lessons and see how you progress with each one.

Go to a website such as Sense-Lang.org if you are using a "DVORAK" keyboard. Click the "Typing Tutorials" option. You will be viewing the standard "QWERTY" keyboard in the resultant page. Choose the "Dvorak Keyboard" option on the page. Select the lessons and start your keyboard typing lessons.
