How to Sign on to the Myspace Instant Messenger

Myspace is a popular social network website, one of the first to gain widespread recognition. Users can create a customized profile, connect with friends and share photos, videos and web links with one another. One feature included with a Myspace membership is the ability to IM, or instant message, other Myspace users. Signing onto the Myspace Instant Messenger is quick and easy.

Instructions

1. Create a Myspace account if you have not already done so. Only Myspace users can utilize the Myspace Instant Messenger.

2. Log in to your Myspace account. Once you have done so, the default setting for the Instant Messenger is to automatically log you in to the service.

3. To begin chatting with friends, click the "IM Friends" button in the banner at the bottom of the page. If any of your friends are online, their name will appear in the window that pops up.

4. Click on your friend's name to initiate a chat session. Now you can start a conversation, share media links and access your friend's Myspace profile right from the Instant Messenger window.

Tips & Warnings

• Click the "More Options" button next to your profile picture in the Myspace Instant Messenger pop-up window to access IM settings. You can adjust alerts and visibility settings and access your IM Friends and IM Block settings through this menu.
