How to Make Jam in a Bread Machine With the Jam Setting
Nothing compares to the taste of fresh, homemade jam. After one taste of homemade jam, you'll never look at the store-bought stuff the same. While homemade is much tastier, it is also time consuming and requires constant attention while it cooks. Modern bread machines have come to the rescue with a setting designed for making jam. Now you can have the fresh, homemade taste without standing over a hot stove and making a big, sugary mess. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 1 lb. fresh berries or equivalent frozen berries
- 1 box low- or no-sugar pectin powder
- 1 tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 cup sugar

Wash fresh berries and dice them into small pieces to prepare them for jam making. If you are using frozen berries, thaw completely and mash lightly, using a potato masher or fork. If using small, fresh berries, like raspberries, you do not need to dice them, simply mash them slightly with a fork.

Place all the ingredients into the bread machine.

Program your bread machine to the jam cycle, according to manufacturer instructions, and press "Start."

Remove the bread pan from the machine after cycle is complete. When cooled, pour the jam mixture into containers with tight-fitting lids and place them in the refrigerator for up to six weeks.

Tips & Warnings
Use caution if using a regular jam recipe. Too much sugar at a high heat may cause the bread pan to overflow and make a sticky mess in your bread machine.
