How to Do Edges on a Loom Pot Holder

Peg loom potholders are a simple craft that children can make, but can be made slightly more challenging for adults to enjoy as well. Weaving these potholders is an activity you can enjoy while watching your favorite television show or even while visiting with friends. Once the potholder is woven, however, you must know how to properly finish the edges to remove it from the loom without having it fall apart. A basic crochet stitch, the chain stitch, is all that is needed to complete the job.

Instructions

Stick your crochet hook through the last loop to the left on the top edge of the loom. Pull that loop off the peg with the hook. Move the hook to the right.

    • 2

Stick the crochet hook through the next loop to the right. Hook that loop and pull it through the first loop so the first loop slides off the hook and onto the second loop.

    • 3

Stick the crochet hook through the next loop to the right. Pull the third loop through the second loop, just as you pulled the second through the first, letting the second loop slide off the hook. Keep working your way around the loom in this fashion.

Pull the last loop, the top loop on the left edge of the loom, tight. The last loop is for hanging up the potholder.
