How to Craft Pillows

Throw pillows bring a personal touch to a room.

You can change the appearance of any room with your own throw pillows. Making throw pillows allows you to be creative and lets you add your own personal touches to your house.You can make your pillow in any size and shape, and it's easy and fun to do.

Things You'll Need

• Fabric
• 24-inch pillow form
• 20-inch zipper
• Fabric cutting board
• Fabric pens
• Yardstick
• Scissors
• Needle
• Thread

Instructions

1. Choose your fabric and make sure that it's 1 1/4 yards and that is 45 inches wide. While you're choosing your fabric also pick up your 20-inch zipper and pillow form.

2. Pre-wash your fabric.

3. Lay your fabric on the fabric cutting board. Using your yardstick and fabric pen, measure and mark two squares that are 25 1/4 inches on all sides.

4. Cut out both squares.

5. Pin the right sides together, which means that the brighter sides are facing the inside together.

6. Sew together three of the edges.

7. Place the zipper into the fourth edge. Open the zipper up and pin it to either side, starting in the center of the zipper. When the zipper is secured by the pins, sew the zipper in place.

8. Turn the pillow right side out and insert the pillow form. Zipper it closed and you have a completed pillow.

Tips & Warnings

• You can make your pillow any size; just remember to add or subtract fabric accordingly.
