How to Import Music From an iPhone to a Mac

Songs from an iPhone can be arranged into playlists using iTunes.

Users of the iPhone can make music and video purchases from their computer via the iTunes program, or directly from the iPhone device. After making a song purchase from the iPhone iTunes app, the music can be transferred to a Mac computer easily. Putting music onto your Mac computer will enable you to make CDs or listen to the device from your computer's iTunes program.

Instructions

1. Open iTunes on your computer and go to the "Store" menu. Click "Authorize Computer" and enter your Apple ID and password in the dialogue box that appears. Authorizing the computer will enable iTunes to accept the songs from your iPhone.

2. Connect your iPhone to the computer.

3. Press the "Control" key and click on the name of the iPhone in the iTunes sidebar.

4. Click on "Transfer Purchases" in the drop-down menu. A sync will begin that copies songs from the iPhone into the Mac's iTunes library.

5. Wait to remove your iPhone from the computer until iTunes presents a message that the songs were successfully transferred.
