Instructions

    • 1

Cream together butter and white sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla extract. Stir in all-purpose flour, baking powder and salt. Cover and chill dough for at least one hour or overnight.

    • 2

Get out your Ateco cookie cutters. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Roll out the dough on a floured surface to 1/4- or 1/2-inch thickness.

    • 3

Line up your Ateco cookie cutter flat on the surface of the dough and press down. Remove the shape created by the cookie cutter. Place cookies one inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Finish cutting up the dough with your cookie cutters. If you have enough dough, ball up and re-roll it to make more cookies. Discard any unusable scraps.

    • 4

Bake cookies for six to eight minutes in the preheated oven. Cool completely before icing or eating.

    • 5

Clean the cookie cutters by hand unless it's indicated it's safe to put in a dishwasher.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure your Ateco cookie cutters are clean and free of rust before using.

  • Flour surfaces liberally to prevent the dough from sticking before rolling it out. You can always dust off extra flour from the bottom of your cookies.

  • You can use your Ateco cookie cutters with a variety of doughs; the sugar cookie recipe provided is just one option.

  • Always bake to the lowest time suggested and check on doneness. You can always bake more, but once something's burnt, there's nothing you can do about it.
