An Xbox is an expensive toy; avoid expensive repair by doing regular cleaning maintenance.

Keeping an Xbox cool, stable and clean are the essential tips for maintaining your Xbox. Preventive maintenance such as dusting once a week or cleaning off the discs before you place them inside. Making these steps routine will have your Xbox running glitch-free and repair-free for a long time.

      Take the Xbox out of an enclosed area or a cramped entertainment center. A confined area does not allow the Xbox to ventilate and can generate too much heat. Keep the Xbox in an open area.

      Place the Xbox on a solid surface. Carpet and other soft surface cannot ventilate the heat adequately. A wood surface is ideal to set your Xbox on.

      Locate the power supply where air can circulate around it to help keep it cool cool.

      Keep the Xbox away from other heat-generating electronics. The Xbox should be positioned away from heating vents as well.

      Dust the area around the Xbox weekly. Dust can damage the Xbox and cause it to malfunction. Keep the Xbox away from open windows and doors that are opened frequently to outside dusty areas.

      Clean discs and and store them in a clean place. Dirty discs can transfer dust and debris into the inside of the Xbox. After use store place the discs in a case immediately.
