How to Create Cool Designs on a Lacrosse Shaft
The sport of lacrosse has its roots in Native American history. Cherokee Indians used the sport for combat training. The Six Tribes of the Iroquois played a more organized version of lacrosse than other Native American tribes. French explorers, who were the first to see lacrosse played by Native Americans, called the game of field hockey "jeu do la crosse."

1
Take the strings out of the cage on the lacrosse stick. The cage is where you catch the ball.
-
2
Rub alcohol all over the shaft of the lacrosse stick. On a wooden stick use mild soap and hot water. Make sure you rinse off the soap and let the stick dry for at least 24 hours.

3
Set the stick on a clean dry surface where you placed a newspaper down to catch any paint drips. Choose a color for the stick that matches your lacrosse personality. If you are an aggressive player, consider a bold color. If you use skill and intelligence rather than brawn, perhaps you choice should be something flashy. Use stain on a wooden stick so the paint doesn't peel in your hands during a game or practice. Make sure to stain in a well-ventilated area.

4
Rub the stain on the wooden lacrosse stick in circular motions with a clean painter's cloth. After the stain dries for at least 24 hours, you can place decals of mascots, letters for your name or wild animals that represent your style of play onto the upper shaft of the stick. You don't want decals where your hands hold the stick. Through normal wear and tear, the decals will curl and peel off. You can stain the cage and put decals on that area of the stick, but remember its purpose is to catch the ball and hold onto the ball.

5
Place the decals on the stick by peeling off the backing slowly. Static electricity in the decal causes them to cling to your fingers and any other surface nearby. Lay the decal on the stick, starting with the larger or wider area first. Work your way slowly to the smaller end rubbing the surface of the decal with your forefinger as you go. By going slowly and rubbing, you decrease the chance of getting a wrinkle in the decal.
