How to Make a Wearable Sandwich Board Sign

Make a wearable sandwich board for cheap and easy advertising.

Whether you're doing some peaceful protesting or advertising a sale outside of a business, a wearable sandwich board will help draw attention from passersby. A wearable sandwich board is convenient because your arms don't get tired from holding a sign for extended amounts of time and it can say the same thing on the front and back. The materials that you need to make your wearable sandwich board are inexpensive and commonly stocked at craft stores.

  • Yardstick or ruler
  • Pencil
  • Black permanent marker

Instructions

    • 1

Draw horizontal lines on the poster boards with a pencil; use a yard stick or ruler to make sure they are straight. Each will be the baseline for a row of text, so space them accordingly

    • 2

Write your text on the lines. Outline the letters neatly with a black permanent marker and color them in with poster paints. Allow the paint to dry before proceeding.

    • 3

Glue heavy-duty hook-and-loop fastener squares to the inner sides of the boards, near the top edges about 4 inches in from the top corners, or to where your shoulders line up. Attach the squares with epoxy glue and wait at least 24 hours for the glue to dry completely.

    • 4

Attach hook-and-loop fastener straps from the front board to the back board, on both sides, so that you can hang them on your shoulders.

    • 5

Attach strips of foam under the straps with epoxy glue to make them a little more comfortable. Wait 24 hours for the glue to dry before wearing the sandwich board.

Tips & Warnings

  • Corrugated cardboard also works for this project.
