Look for colleges and universities that offer master's degree programs in music online. There are multiple schools offering this option. Seek programs that offer the specific field you want to specialize in, for example, Music Theory or Education - Music Specialization. Develop a list of criteria to match against the information you find when you research.

Visit the websites of the schools that interest you for more information about the program, the faculty, communication with the faculty during the program, the feedback process, application process, fees and graduate placement programs. You may also want to find out if it is all individual contributions or you will participate in virtual classroom activities. Alternatively, contact the Admissions Office of the schools and request information regarding their program offerings.

Select your program(s) based on schools that fit your criteria and apply for admission as outlined by the school. You will be asked to submit your transcripts online or via mail, so have them prepared in time. Complete your application, submit your transcripts and pay your fees.

Wait to receive notification from the school(s) regarding acceptance. Once you are accepted, you will receive instructions about enrolling for classes, course offerings and deadlines for enrollment, if applicable.
