How to Make a Feng Shui Wealth Wreath

How to Make a Feng Shui Wealth Wreath thumbnail
Red is the color of fortune in feng shui, so add a red ribbon to your wealth wreath to promote good fortune.

Feng shui, also called the Art of Placement, is an ancient system that strives to improve the energy in and around a room or entire building. Each direction of a space corresponds to a distinctive force. For wealth, there are two important regions. First is the entryway to your home, where energy flows into and leaves the house. To create the best possible flow of prosperity, hang a homemade wealth wreath in the space. Alternatively, put a wealth wreath in the southeast corner of your home for success. Feng shui considers the round shape of the wreath auspicious, representing completion and balance. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase a green or gold based wreath frame at a craft store, along with wired red ribbon and citrine or pyrite beads. In Feng shui, red is the color of fortune. Citrine draws wealth and improves personal confidence, while pyrite facilitates abundance. Obtain the feng shui coins and Pa-k'ua mirror from a feng shui supply outlet or Chinese gift store. The coins represent both luck and riches, while the mirror directs negative energy away from your home.

    • 2

Cut four pieces of florist wire. String these through the decorative edges of the Pa-k'ua mirror at all four corners. Thread the wires into the wreath frame at the middle, centering the mirror. Twist each wire until tightly secured. Trim off any excess.

    • 3

Cut three more pieces of wire. String each through one of the feng shui coins. Thread one coin into the northern part of the wreath, one to the southwestern section and one to the southeastern section, to create a triangle. This represents upward movement, recognition and improvements. Twist the two ends of the wire for each coin together at the back of the wreath frame. Clip the excess wire.

    • 4

Cut a piece of wire long enough to wrap around the wreath eight times in a spiral pattern. The number 8 represents prosperity and foundations. Twist one end of the wire to the frame of the wreath behind the northern coin. Push it up through and string your beads on to it. Take the wire and evenly wrap it around the wreath, making sure not to cover the coins. Push the second end of the wire back down into the frame behind the northern coin, and wrap it around the frame, cutting any excess wire once secured.

    • 5

Apply personally meaningful decorations between the coins and bead strings. For example, if you want improved prosperity at your job, put a symbol of that job into the wreath. Teachers might use an apple or pencil; nurses, a red cross -- and so forth. Secure each token with wire or using a hot glue gun.

    • 6

Finish off the wreath by adding red ribbon. You can put the ribbon anywhere you wish, so long as you don't cover other elements of the wreath. One option is to use it to make a hanger, by looping it into the frame behind the northern coin and tying it there.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep the area around your wealth wreath free of clutter so that energy flows freely. Make sure your door opens fully to let that energy in.

  • Avoid having the wreath adjacent to sharp edges or corners, as this symbolically cuts energy.
