Xbox gaming is hugely popular in the United States.

The Xbox 360 is a video game console released by Microsoft in 2005. Featuring high-definition graphics, the console has achieved a large worldwide fan base. If you are experiencing a flashing red ring (all four lights that make up the Xbox 360's "ring" are flashing), it signifies there is a problem with the connection between your television and your Xbox. There is a simple and free fix that should mean you will not need to send your Xbox for repair.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to Microsoft's website (see Resources) and click on the "Support" tab; this can be found in the top left corner.

    • 2

Click on "Troubleshoot flashing red lights" tab. Select the "Flashing Red Lights Solution" halfway down the page.

    • 3

Select the number of flashing red lights your Xbox has. If it is a red ring, then select "four."

    • 4

Check the A/V cable by turning your console and television off. Pull out the A/V cable from the back of your console. Disconnect the A/V connector from your television set.

    • 5

Reconnect the A/V cable to your Xbox. Plug the other end of the A/V cable back into your television. Boot up the console and the television. This should fix the flashing red ring.

Tips & Warnings

  • If unplugging and then plugging back in the A/V cable doesn't work then try using another A/V cable --- the original might be faulty.
