How to Join Multiple MPG Files

An MPG or MPEG file is a compressed movie file that uses standards for video compression created by the Moving Picture Experts Group. MPG movie files are commonly found on the Internet, as the video compression methods are an efficient compromise between quality and small file size. If you've downloaded an episodic series of videos that you wish to combine into a single MPG file, you can do this by downloading an MPG file-joining application.

Instructions

    • 1

Download and install an MPG movie file joiner application, such as Easy Video Joiner, MPEG Joiner or Open Video Joiner (see Resources).

    • 2

Launch the MPG movie file joiner application.

    • 3

Click the "Add Files" or "Open Video" button. Click to select one of the MPG movie files that you wish to join. Click "Open."

    • 4

Repeat Step 3 to add additional MPG movie files to the file queue.

    • 5

Click to select an MPG movie from the file queue, then click "Up" or "Down" or drag the file above or below the other MPG files to reorder the queue. Position the MPG movie files you wish to join together in order from top to bottom.

    • 6

Click the "Preview" or "Play" button to see a preview of the joined MPG movie file. Click "Browse" to choose an output directory for the joined MPG movie file.

    • 7

Click the "Join" or "Merge" button to join the multiple MPG movie files.
